Finished zipper lengths can be shortened easily by cutting the end that is last closed. Whip the cut ends with sail twine or secure a piece of leather over the teeth so that the slider cannot be pulled off. Or, for a more finished look, remove two zipper teeth from the waste, on each cut end place a tooth between the two top teeth and melt the three teeth together with a hot knife. These YKK zippers come with a double pull slider which can only be opened from both sides.
